Federal Acquisition Regulations System 1 2023-10-01 2023-10-01 false Definitions. 23.001 Section 23.001 Federal Acquisition Regulations System FEDERAL ACQUISITION REGULATION SOCIOECONOMIC PROGRAMS ENVIRONMENT, ENERGY AND WATER EFFICIENCY, RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES, OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY, AND DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE 23.001 Definitions. As used in this part— Environmental means environmental aspects of internal agency operations and activities, including those aspects related to energy and transportation functions. Greenhouse gases means carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perflourocarbons, nitrogen triflouride, and sulfur hexafluoride. Toxic chemical means a chemical or chemical category listed in 40 CFR 372.65. United States, except as used in subpart 23.10, means— (1) The fifty States; (2) The District of Columbia; (3) The commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands; (4) The territories of Guam, American Samoa, and the United States Virgin Islands; and (5) Associated territorial waters and airspace.
