43 C.F.R. § 3177.1 — Authority.

§ 3177.1 Authority. This subpart is established pursuant to the authority granted to the Secretary of the Interior by various Federal and Indian mineral leasing statutes and the Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Management Act of 1982. Said authority has been delegated to the Bureau of Land Management and is implemented by the onshore oil and gas operating regulations contained in 43 CFR part 3160. As directed by the Federal Onshore Oil and Gas Leasing Reform Act of 1987, for National Forest lands the Secretary of Agriculture shall regulate all surface-disturbing activities and shall determine reclamation and other actions required in the interest of conservation of surface resources. Specific authority for the provisions contained in this subpart is found at 43 CFR 3162.3 and 3162.5 and 43 CFR part 3160, subpart 3163.
