§ 3.1710 Escheat (payment of burial benefits to an estate with no heirs). VA will not pay burial benefits if the payment would escheat (that is, would be turned over to the State because there are no heirs to the estate of the person to whom such benefits would be paid). (Authority: 38 U.S.C. 501(a))
