Standard XIV-Textbooks.

§ 36.41 Standard XIV—Textbooks. (a) Each school shall establish a textbook review committee composed of teachers, parents, and students, and school board members. Appointment to the textbook review committee shall be subject to school board approval. (b) The textbook review committee shall establish a procedure and criteria for the annual review of textbooks and other materials used to complement instruction. The criteria shall include, but not be limited to, the following: (1) The textbook content shall meet the course objectives which are within the adopted school curriculum. (2) The textbooks shall, as much as possible, reflect cultures accurately. (3) The textbooks shall be current, in good physical condition, and varied in reading levels. (c) Each school shall equitably distribute instructional materials to all classrooms. Each school shall inventory all property and equipment annually prior to requisitioning additional materials. Copies of the inventory shall be kept on file by the school staff.
