Drug Outlet Minimum Facility Standards

TITLE 54 PROFESSIONS, VOCATIONS, AND BUSINESSES CHAPTER 17 PHARMACISTS 54-1730. DRUG OUTLET MINIMUM FACILITY STANDARDS. Each resident drug outlet shall meet the following minimum facility standards: (1)  Be constructed and equipped with adequate security to protect its equipment, records and supply of drugs, devices and other restricted sale items from unauthorized access, acquisition, or use; (2)  Store controlled substances in accordance with federal law; (3)  Restrict access to the area where prescription drugs are prepared, compounded, distributed, dispensed, or stored to authorized personnel; (4)  Maintain staff sufficient to operate safely and remain open during the hours posted to the public; and (5)  If dispensing more than twenty (20) prescriptions per day, maintain an electronic recordkeeping system to store patient medication records. Such system shall have audit trail functionality that documents the identity of each individual involved in each step of processing, filling, and dispensing or, alternatively, the identity of the pharmacist or prescriber responsible for the accuracy of such processes.
