School Safety Patrols — Failure To Obey Unlawful

TITLE 49 MOTOR VEHICLES CHAPTER 6 RULES OF THE ROAD 49-652. school safety patrols — failure to obey unlawful. (1)  It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to fail to stop his or her vehicle when directed to do so by a member of a school safety patrol who is on duty and who is wearing the school-designated insignia of a school safety patrol member. It shall further be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to disregard any other reasonable directions of a properly identified member of a school safety patrol while he or she is on duty. (2)  For the purposes of this section, a school safety patrol consists of one (1) or more student body members appointed by an administrative officer of a school. A school safety patrol member shall wear a badge or other appropriate insignia marked "School Patrol" while in the performance of his or her duties, and may display "STOP" or other proper traffic directional signs at school crossings or other points where school children are crossing or about to cross a public street or highway.
