NUISANCES

SECTION 42(14). To prevent, abate, and remove nuisances, and to declare what shall constitute the same, and to punish persons committing or suffering nuisances, and to provide the manner of their abatement or removal; to fill up or drain any swampy land or land where any stagnant water stands, and to declare the same a nuisance. All costs and expenses incurred by the city therein may be collected by suit or the amount thereof may be charged against the lot, block, or parcel of land upon which said nuisance existed, and said amount and description certified by the city clerk to the tax collector, and the same shall thereupon be a lien thereon as are taxes, extended on the tax rolls, and collected as other city taxes.
