FIRST ELECTION-DETERMINING WINNER

FIRST ELECTION-DETERMINING WINNER

SECTION 6-A(21). In case there is but one person to be elected to an office, as, for example, the office of mayor, the candidate receiving a majority of the votes cast for all the candidates at the said first election for that office shall be declared elected; in case there are two or more persons to be elected to an office, as for example, that of councilman, then individual candidates, if any, equal in number to the number to be elected, who receive the highest number of votes greater than one-half the number of ballots cast for such office at such election, shall be declared elected.
