6-10B-2: PURPOSE:

The purpose of the regulations and standards established within this article is to ensure adequate on-street parking is provided and maintained throughout the City. Parking meters, demand-based parking fees and the use of special parking permits are intended to relieve congestion, provide adequate turnover of on-street parking spaces and reduce meter re-plugging, provide for the safe and orderly movement of traffic throughout the City, promote business and industry through adequate customer parking, allow for the use of special parking permits for business purposes, and protect the City and surrounding areas from air pollution by encouraging the use of zero emission vehicles.
