1-10F-3: POWERS AND DUTIES:

The Director of Public Works, in addition to those necessarily or fairly implied in or incidental to or those essential to the powers, duties and functions hereinafter expressly delegated and specified shall supervise, and be in charge of:

   A.   The planning, design, construction, management, maintenance and operation of the sewage collection and treatment system.

   B.   Planning, design, construction, management, maintenance and operation of the geothermal system.

   C.   Planning, design, construction, management, maintenance and operation of the Municipal irrigation system.

   D.   Planning, design, construction, management, maintenance and operation of the public streetlight system.

   E.   Planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the drainage and stormwater systems not the responsibility of other entities.

   F.   Planning and management of solid waste service, including, but not limited to, waste reduction programs and recycling.

   G.   Planning for, and protection of, groundwater quality.

   H.   Planning for, and protection of, air quality.

   I.   Providing technical engineering, inspection and project management support services to other City departments.

   J.   With concurrence of the Mayor and Council, establish fees necessary to carry out the duties of the department.

   K.   Billing and collection of City utility fees and charges.

   L.   Maintaining and repairing assigned City facilities.

   M.   Providing internal security assistance, including operation and maintenance of the security system.

   N.   Appointment of a City Engineer who shall be a professional engineer licensed by the State.

   O.   Assume and perform such other duties, functions and services as may be required by ordinance or as assigned by the Council or Mayor. (Ord. 39-16, 10-25-2016)
