1-9-4: CITY COUNCIL:

   A.   Membership: The City shall have a City Council composed of six (6) members.

   B.   City Council Seats Numbered: Pursuant to Idaho Code section 50-707, the City Clerk shall assign a number to each City Council seat at least one hundred twenty (120) days prior to the next general election. Each assigned City Council seat number shall correspond with a City Council seat district as set forth in this chapter and Idaho Code section 50-707A.

   C.   City Council Seat Districts Created; Election By Districts: As the City's population exceeds one hundred thousand (100,000) inhabitants, all City Council seats shall be elected by City districts pursuant to Idaho Code section 50-707A. The requirements for establishing the City Council seat districts shall follow the provisions set forth in Idaho Code section 50-707A and this chapter.

   D.   Term: Except as otherwise set forth in this chapter, election to a City Council seat shall be for a term of four (4) years.

   E.   Number Of Seats During Biennial Election: During the biennial general Municipal elections, three (3) of the six (6) City Council seats shall be up for election.

   F.   Filing For Designated Seat: Candidates for City Council seats shall file for a designated seat, in the manner prescribed by Idaho Code.

   G.   Elected By Plurality Of Votes: A candidate running for a designated City Council seat shall be elected by a plurality (the greatest number) of the votes cast. (Ord. 32-19, 7-16-2019; amd. Ord. 35-21, 6-29-2021)
