3-11-6: PERMIT REQUIRED; TYPES OF PERMITS; LIMITATION AND EXEMPTION; PERMIT ABANDONED:

   A.   Permit Required: No person shall operate, manage, or cause to be operated any valet parking operation or any related activity upon any portion of a downtown public street, sidewalk, or other City-owned or operated right-of-way without a valid valet parking permit issued by the City Clerk's Office. No permit is required for valet services conducted entirely on private property.

   B.   Types of Permits: The City issues two (2) types of valet operation permits, regular and temporary.

   C.   Temporary Valet Operation Permit Limitation: A Temporary Valet Operation Permit may only be issued for a maximum of seven (7) consecutive days for a nonrecurring valet parking service. Temporary Valet Operation Permits shall not be granted for an individual business or location for more than a total of thirty (30) days annually.

   D.   Regular Valet Operation Permit Limitation; Exemption: Regular Valet Operation Permits shall only be issued for use with hotels with limited or no on-site parking. All valid regular valet parking permits issued prior to October 1, 2023, are exempt from the hotel limitation unless such a permit is abandoned, revoked, or expired.

   E.   Permit Abandonment: Any validly permitted Regular Valet Operation Permit that is not in service for fifteen (15) consecutive days, shall be deemed abandoned, and such permit shall revert to the City for reissue. (1952 Code § 5-13-04; amd. 2019 Code; Ord. 12-24, 4-30-2024, eff. 7-1-2024)
