9-5-15: TESTING AND RESEARCH REPORTS:
When necessary to assist in the approval of materials, methods of construction, or equipment not specifically provided for in this code, the code official shall have the authority to require tests or inspections as evidence of compliance or valid research reports from approved sources, to be made at no expense to the jurisdiction. Test methods shall be as specified in the code or by other recognized test standards, unless otherwise approved by the code official. Tests or inspections shall be performed by an approved third-party testing agency. Reports of tests or inspections shall be retained and entered into the files of the electrical section.
