8-4-46: NURSERY, WHOLESALE OR RETAIL:

   A.   Mechanical Equipment: Outdoor mechanical equipment (including, but not limited to, heaters and fans) shall not be located within fifty feet (50') of a property line. To reduce noise, permanently mounted mechanical equipment shall be enclosed to the maximum extent possible.

   B.   Outdoor Storage Area: Outdoor storage for materials shall comply with the Outdoor Storage Area requirements of this Chapter. The following nursery materials shall be exempt from this requirement:

      1.   Growing plants in ground or in containers; and

      2.   Wood chips, bark, rock, gravel, or similar ground cover material where such storage piles do not exceed six feet (6') tall.

   C.   Fertilizer: The application of fertilizer or processed wastewater at agronomic rates shall be deemed a component of the nursery use.

   D.   Additional Standards: Additional standards for wholesale and/or retail nursery within a residential district or adjoining a residential district:

      1.   Any storage area for material in the process of being converted into compost shall be located at least one hundred feet (100') from any property line.

      2.   No aerial spraying of the property shall be allowed.

   E.   Retail nurseries in the RUT (rural-urban transition) and RR (rural residential) districts shall also comply with the following:

      1.   The total amount of enclosed retail space shall not exceed five thousand (5,000) square feet. Greenhouses (as defined by this Title) shall not be considered retail space.

      2.   The property shall have frontage to an arterial street.
